OSSS!!! Thanks for visiting my website. Are you looking for a place to learn self defence? Are you looking for a club in Melaka to learn karate? Are you feeling disappointed with sports karate which does not prepare you adequately for hostile situations? It is the goal of this Academy to return to the original principles of the traditional martial arts of karate-do. SEIKEN KARATE ACADEMY (聖剣空手研究会) offers martial arts programs both for adults and children. We strongly believe that our knowledge and experience will help you gain a wider and more focused perspective in your training. With us, Karate-Do taught in the old way is a three step process: 1. First we train the body (physical), 2. Then the mind (mental), and 3. Finally ones’ heart (spiritual). The dojo curriculum is based on kata (solo forms) and tegumi (2 person flow drills) which are essential in learning the principles of defending yourself. We take our training as seriously as our enjoyment in learning, working and helping each other become stronger and better. We aim to be multi-disciplined and open-minded in our approach towards training. Knowledge is the key word. Though our curriculum is heavily based on traditional Karate-Do, elements of other martial arts such as jujitsu, silat and kick-boxing are incorporated to make the training more ‘spicy’. We welcome members from all training systems. I hope to share my excitement about SEIKEN KARATE ACADEMY, that we make the effort to know each other and everyone of our members. This site is still under extensive construction, so please forgive me for any inconvenience that may occur. Unlike most karate/martial arts schools in Malaysia which have a highly developed aspect of sport karate, Seiken Karate Academy was founded to focus on the martial aspect (bugei) of Karate. As such the students are taught to use the katas as a backbone to master self defensive moves for realistic hostile situations. It is applicable even in situation where you encounter someone stronger and it is very effective. We are a member and strong supporter of the the Karate-no-Michi World Federation. We welcome karate-ka (Shotokan or otherwise) who wish to pursue a different approach from sports karate and also anyone who wish to develop realistic self defensive skills. Do join us for the training and get a feel for yourself. Anyone is welcome to join us in our training. Classes are quite informal and students are encouraged to learn by asking questions. Intensity is different for the different ranks and the emphasis is on traditional Shotokan Karate-Do with a realistic approach to self defence. Come and join us for a preview. If you have any questions, email me at the below email address and we will be most happy to answer your questions. Preview is free and you are welcome to make your own enquiries at the class itself. Classes are held everyday from Monday to Saturday. Please enquire to specific class hours. Email me if you need someone to point out the way or to bring you to the class and feel free to contact me and I will try to answer your concerns to the best of my ability.
